An Interview With You

The world of blogging offers much - opportunities to share, learn, and hone writing skills. By far the biggest blessings, in my opinion, are those we meet along the way. You'd be hard pressed to find a kinder, more talented and caring group of people than those who visit here. Thank you for taking this journey with me! You're treasures, all.

It occurred to me that there aren't enough posts in the year to interview everyone here (with all the breaks I take, anyway), so I thought it'd be fun to share a few interview questions for you. If you're game, please answer in the comments.

Ready? Here goes:

  • What type of writing/other creative activity do you pursue? What would you like to do in the future?
  • What's something we might be surprised to learn about you?
  • Share a recent and/or favorite post link from your blog.
  • What have you gained through blogging?
  • Coffee or tea? Chocolate or vanilla?

Answer them all, or just a few. :) Looking forward to learning more about you!

Happy writing,
Karen

  1. Yes, getting to know each other is great. I will answer #1 again. I'm happy to say that I am working on a YA fantasy after not writing creatively (I write for a living) in four years. I'm enjoying the process, even if this just turns out to be writing for me.

  2. Let's see, what might surprise you? I'm a bit of a clean freak. I wash my hands a lot.
I've gained a world of friends through blogging.
Coffee or tea? Neither - give me water.
    Have a great week!

  3. Hi Karen - I really need to get some of my posts put into booklets and move on from my normal blogging. Give me water ... and most of my posts contain some interesting content - historical, educational, etc - lots of surprises but can't think of an appropriate one right now - cheers Hilary

  4. Natalie,
Hey, good for you, writing creatively! Glad you are enjoying the process. :) Keep us posted!

    Alex,
The friends are great, aren't they? :) Can't go wrong with water!

    Hilary,
I think booklets for your posts is an excellent idea. Such interesting info can't help but be shared! :)

    Happy writing,
    Karen

  5. What type of writing/other creative activity do you pursue? What would you like to do in the future?

Science Fiction, but I am very bad at it.

What's something we might be surprised to learn about you? I am a total introvert. I took a personality test once and was off the chart. It’s like I am not even here. :) I bet everyone reading this is an introvert too...

Share a recent and/or favorite post link from your blog. Hmm...this one:

What have you gained through blogging? I think I may be a better writer! Also, friends.

Coffee or tea? Chocolate or vanilla? Coffee, black, hot. Chocolate. All the chocolate.

  6. Hi Karen,
This is fun. I write nonfiction. Mostly magazine articles but also website and ad copy. As for other creative pursuits, I'm a planner geek and unwind by doodling or painting in my planner or journal. Something that I always share for question 2 is that I once worked as a disc jockey. Blogging has taught me to be consistent and brought incredible friends into my life. I prefer green tea and chocolate. 7. Karen, I just love that picture of the tea cup of autumn leaves. So pretty! I feel I am still figuring out my writing, and although I do some writing now, I think it may be something I pursue more seriously when not working anymore. My favourite part of writing is description though, and trying to find just the right phrasing and words to show scene and mood! Morning coffee drinker, and evening herbal tea sipper!

  9. My creativity revolves around story writing, photography, and organizing. (Which, the way I do it, is indeed really creative.) This may or may not surprise anyone, but I've always loved cats, starting with the lions in Born Free. And to this day, I cannot watch that film without crying because I know Elsa dies in the next film.

  10. Hmm. Lots to think about, but here goes:
    1. I'd like to finish my novel.
    2. I'm a recent breast cancer survivor; finishing radiation the end of the month.
    3. One of my favorite posts is about Enjoying the Moment and the eclipse. Here's a link to the post. http://donnasbookpub.blogspot.com/2017/09/enjoy-moment.html
    4. I have made a lot of blogging friends and have learned from others.
    5. Tea. Vanilla ice cream, but chocolate for just about everything else.

  11. Carol,
It's hard to picture you as a disc jockey! :) Thanks for sharing that link. Will check it out.

    Lynn,
Thanks, I love that pic too! Found it on Pexels, and it was free. :) Good to learn more about you.

    MaryAnn,
You are most welcome. Appreciate you participating. Looking forward to checking out that link! :)

    Diane,
Haven't seen Born Free in ages, but I cried every time when I was a kid and it was on. Creative organizing - why not?! Love that idea. :)

    Donna,
Wishing you a continued and speedy recovery! The friends are piceless, aren't theyhy? :)

    Happy writing,
    Karen

  12. It is really hard to find time to interview people and get to know them. Great idea!

#1 Science writer and communicator. But, for "creative" writing I take facts and write non-fiction around them. Some day I'll put these creative snippets into a big story and publish it.
#2 There's a lot people would be surprised about. I'll talk to them about it over tea.
    #3 http://insanitek.net/science-everyone-%E2%94%80-not-just-scientists/
#4 I've gained a sense of how I see the world as well as how others see the world.
#5 Both coffee and tea, depends on the time of day. And both chocolate and vanilla, depending on what fruit to eat with it.

  13. Hi Karen - Thanks for asking!

#1: I write women’s fiction novels/romance/mystery. My future will, I hope, be filled with more of the same!
#2: I own a Glock 42 that I named Stella, I train at the range, and I hit what I aim at. :)
    #3: http://www.lisaricardclaro.com/touched-by-an-angel/
#4: Blogging has put me in touch with so many lovely people, a lot of them other writers like you. Also, blogging every week on a consistent basis has helped improve my skills.
#5: Both coffee and tea. Chocolate, hands down!

    Have a great week, Karen!

  14. Since I'm officially on vacation, I'm going to only tackle one question--I like them all BTW. But as to #1, I like to experiment. I pursue YA-crossover and like to explore issues that young people face. For fun, I write MG fantasy-adventure, and find that allows me to do some research--something I always enjoy. Just last month I wrote my first horror piece. Now, I'm starting to scare myself. :-)

  17. Grace,
Glad you liked the idea! It's nice to learn more about you. Enjoyed your post as well. :)

    Lisa,
So Stella is your sidekick, eh? I'd never have guessed! Fun to get to know you better! :)

    Lee,
Don't scare yourself! You're supposed to know how it turns out! lol Hope you enjoy your break and get some rest.

    Ceil,
I didn't realize you were a swimmer and a diver. That's fun! Good to get to know you better. :) As for me, no diving, but I used to run the scoreboard at my sons' roller hockey games. And I do prefer water, and hot or iced tea with just the teeniest smidge of sugar. :) Thanks for asking!

    Martha,
I'm glad you liked this idea. :) It's nice to learn more about you. Will hop over and check out your latest post!

    Happy writing,

  18. I'm a first time visitor and working on a devotional based on my farm life. Since we don't know each other, not sure what would be surprising. A recent post, last week, is "I've Found My HaPpY Place" and any of my posts about Dave. Through blogging I've met people all over the world and, sometimes, have visited with them in their homes. I'm still friends with some, enjoying from afar and close. I've blogged for 12 years and have had each year printed in a soft cover book. Those books are a blessing to me, especially since Dave's death. Those journals are a road map of our life together as well as God's safe keeping. They are among my treasures.

  19. Loved the responses! I got a call part way through but cheers to everyone. I write fantasy and paint pictures. Blogging has brought me a lot of support and courage. I like both coffee and tea but prefer chocolate unless it's cake, then vanilla.

I've taken several classes and done a number of specials at church. 3) I don't have a specific post link handy, but my blog is located at https://www.susanjreinhardt.com 4) Blogging introduced me to some awesome writers, who have become dear friends. I've also learned so much about the craft. 5) Tea - preferably French Vanilla, Tazo Calm, or English Breakfast Tea. CHOCOLATE!
