Like most gifts inspiration is of no value unless it's opened and used. But I am always grateful when I see it wrapped in pretty paper and waiting for my eager hands. And I do try to be responsible with it - really I do.
I agree! Inspiration is a gift. Some days I am more inspired than others and I appreciate it when it really kicks in. I usually find inspiration in nature and in other stories. :) ~Jess
A gift must be opened to be of any use to the recipient. If you don't open and receive it, it was never yours to begin with. In that respect, it should be opened responsibly, and with gratitude. You have inspired me today to think deeper! Thanks Karen!
Karen: Not only should a gift, inspiration especially, be opened,it should be treasured. Sometimes, older people receive a gift and put it up on a shelf in a closet. The only time it is looked at is after they have passed on and someone else is cleaning out their stuff. Inspiration is given to us by God. We should honor Him and use that gift as He desires.
I totally agree. If we can't appreciate something wonderful when it comes to us, we're likely to lose it. What inspires me? Right now, a fully night's sleep. What is that like? Guess I won't know for a LONG time. =)
I do agree. Inspiration is a wonderful gift, and I'm always grateful when it strikes. As a professional writer, I sometimes am forced to write without inspiration and must push past the lack of it to get work done. I suppose that is what makes those spasms of inspiration such a gift when they occur.
Hi Karen! It's been my goal to be inspired by all the things that happen in my life. Of course, I always fail at it, but I think inspiration for writing can come from the smallest things. I just have to be aware. So that's my challenge. Can I be plugged into my day enough to appreciate the gifts that come my way step by step, minute by minute? Those are the things that need to be unwrapped and shared, because we all can understand everyday things. And we need to learn from each other. Wednesday blessings, Ceil
Stephen, You are welcome! Hope they enjoy your inspiration!
LD, Now there's a good angle from which to think of it. :) I like that.
Crystal, Hoping that the sleep you do get these and in the coming days offers some refreshment. Surely your sweet baby will love her mama enough to be kind in that respect! :)
Lisa, Now this is true too. Sometimes we have to crank out the words, inspired or not. So thankful, like you, when it does strike! :)
Joylene, You are beyond sweet! You inspire me as well. :) You were one of my early followers, and I wondered, what could I possibly have to offer to make her follow me? :) Little did I know of the benefits ahead. So blessed to know you!
Ceil, Yes, I agree; learning from each other is a wonderful thing! I think too, that inspiration doesn't have to be all lightning bolts and pretty presents, but it can be the small whisperings that lead to other things as well. :)
YOU inspire me, amigo. The way you're always at the ready with a helping hand. I love that quality about you along with all your other beautiful character traits you have. Plus, my kids. They inspire me in great ways. Christopher especially. Watching him walk down his path with dignity and fortitude. xoxoxo
Robyn, You inspire me too! Loving the haiku you've been posting on your blog. Makes me want to write some! Thanks for your kind words. You do know that you are a blessing too, right? A treasure for sure. xoxo
Jen, We do need to use it to bless others! I agree. And you have been a blessing to me. So thankful we met through the blogosphere. Thanks so much for your kind words!

Now I'm inspired to pick up or make a gift for the fam. They've been seeing too much of the back of my head lately. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteA very nice thought.
ReplyDeleteIt inspires me when someone I care about asks what I'm working on or how it's going. I want to be able to give them a positive answer.

ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with this statement. Inspiration comes from God, so we need to use it to bless others.
ReplyDeleteFriends like you inspire me. Sometimes I'm upset or sad, then I find an email from you that makes me realize how blessed I am to have you in my life.
The words of the Bible inspire me, especially certain passages in Psalms and Revelation that show us God's power and glory.
Thanks for asking!
