I Love to Write Day

Did you know that November 15, 2012 is the 10th anniversary of
I Love to Write Day?

Author John Riddle created this wonderful holiday to celebrate writing and hold the "world's largest party for writers."

Mr. Riddle says his goal is simple, and "...people of all ages are encouraged to write something. A poem, a letter, an essay, start a novel, finish a novel...the possibilities are endless!"

So there you have it, whether participating in NaNo, penning an article, a story or blog post, or writing an email, you'll be joining the celebration. Chocolate anyone?

More info on I Love to Write Day is available at the official site.

And, if you happen to be looking for writing ideas to use with your children, grandchildren, or other amazing kiddos in your life, check out my guest article at Carol Alexander's Lessons From the Homestead. I share a few ideas on how to get imaginations primed to stretch those writing muscles.

Did you know about I Love to Write Day? What did you think about writing when you were in grade school? Have any fabulous weekend plans?

Have a great weekend,

Karen

  5. Hi Karen...Never heard of I Love to Write Day until I read your post today.

I think I have always loved to write. My memories are more from high school, though, rather than grade school.

Weekend? Getting ready for the upcoming holidays.

Hope you have a nice day today! Susan

  16. This is my Fav post of yours.
Because I felt like I was reading my past wishes, aims and desires I once had as a teenager but was always in vain.
I was in 8th grade when I had this vision of writing a novel or else, being a script writer for a movie. So whenever things happen around friends and school surroundings, I use to write it down and read it again with full of dreams before I go to sleep. The feeling was amazing!

Now, those papers remain as dreams and it is buried to ashes.
And till now, nothing happened. I need a guide and I still didn't find it.
I wish, I hope and I pray to make this come true. This post just had me inspired all the way.

p,s, I have a story in mind that I have stored in me for such a long time. Waiting for November 15 ^^

Thank you Karen for sharing this post and inspiring the people in corners and waking them up.
I hope, everyone fulfils what they have once dreamed of.

    Cheers
    Have a good day!

  17. I know how important writing is, and therefore, my PRESCHOOL students tell me fantastic stories once a month that I transcribe verbatiom and display in the hall. Never too soon to develop a love of words.

  18. Angela,
Well, I think the sky's the limit when it comes to creativity for that day. :) As long as there is chocolate present, I'll be happy.

    Lynda,
I'd not either till some years ago. Hope you enjoy the day! :)

    Yeesi,
So glad you enjoyed the post! I love and appreciate your enthusiasm! You are a sweetheart, and I am glad we met through blogging. May all your dreams come to fruition. :)

    Linda,
And I bet some of those stories are really something! Must be great fun! :)

    Happy writing,
    Karen

For us writers its everyday day is a writing day.

  20. I've never heard of it, but I'm not surprised there is such a thing. What is it about writing that compels so many of us? Is it born of our passion to pull from our hearts those things that simply refuse to be obscure or silent?

For as long as I can remember, writing has been the paramount means for me to express myself. And the written word has always captivated me. I suppose that's why I love God's word as I do.

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  21. Rachna,
I know, doesn't it? :) Yes, we write all the time, because it's just what we do!

    Kathleen,
I don't know what it is about writing, but I wonder if the need to communicate is greater for us than others. Just like the need for some to create art or something else. In any case, we can keep on writing! :)

    Happy weekend,
    Karen
