Memorial Day

Memorial Day reminds me of freedom. I am thankful for the men and women who serve or who have served in our military. Without their sacrifices, we would not enjoy the ability to live and worship as we do. I appreciate too, those who've lost their lives in times of war and peace, and offer my sympathy and gratitude to the families and friends that they've left behind.

To all who serve, have served, and plan to serve in the future -
you have my heartfelt thanks and prayers.

Happy Memorial Day

Blessings,
Karen

P.S.  See you back here Thursday for more on the writer's conference. :)

  3. Nicely said, and I like the photo you chose. I was privileged to watch a changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier several years ago. The process is taken seriously, as it should be, and was chill inducing. God bless all our service men and women.

  6. Jules,
Can't say I am enjoying the heat. I am more of a spring and fall girl...:)

    Linda,
Thank you. Will share more on Thursday!

    Lisa,
Thanks so much. This photo caught my eye; I imagine it would be a sobering event to watch.

    Alex,
This is so true. There is a very great price, and I am humbled and sobered.

Thanks a bunch! Have a good week.

    Happy Memorial Day,
    Karen

  7. Here in Canada we celebrate Remembrance Day in October. Everyone wears red poppies. As a family we're particular conscientious of the day because our youngest is a sergeant in the Army and along with his cousin served in Afghanistan.

    Happy Memorial Day.

  9. Joylene,
That's interesting. I knew you had a son in the military; even though you are in Canada, I still appreciate his service!

    Theresa,
Oh, I bet it was! Would like to go sometime.

    Kim,
    Thanks! Good to see you!

    Blessings,
    Karen

  11. Hi Karen .. when we think of today and we think back on those that have lost their lives, or been severely affected by War .. it is FOR US .. who live on and we should remember.

Ours is Nov 11, the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11th month .. very poignant is our Ceremony at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

Necessary thoughts now - thanks .. Hilary

  12. Susan,
Indeed they do. Thanks so much for chiming in. :)

    Hilary,
Yes, we do need to remember, cause as Alex mentioned, freedom is not free.

    Blessings,
    Karen
