Anyone who thinks that writing is an adventure, raise your hand!
It's a journey that holds challenges, but joy and satisfaction too. Amen?
"Writing is mind traveling, destination unknown."
One of the things that I enjoy about being a writer is summed up in this quote; I don't always know where it will lead. What an amazing ride!
What writing adventures have you had over the years? Where is your writing taking you now?
Happy Mother's Day weekend!
Karen

My writing takes me in all directions. Just when I call myself an essaysist, others call me a poet. Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea it would lead me to a second book!
ReplyDeleteToday I'll be doing something totally different than the normal. I'm off to interview a special lady whose 100th birthday is today :-) This should be fun...
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteWearing a lot of hats has its perks sometimes! I'm glad we can just say that we are writers. Kinda covers it all!
Alex,
Hey, congrats on the second book! That's exciting!
Kenda,
What great fun! And what great stories she must have. Wow. Hope you have a great time!
Blessings,
Karen
Happy Mother's Day to you too, Karen. My writing journey has taken me to meetings and classes where I have had the pleasure of connected with others.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The journey is more than half the fun!
ReplyDeleteI always love stopping by and reading your quotes. My journey now is A-Z of thankfulness and is proving a challenge as the goal of my blog is to be inspirational. Some letters are hard to find a word that others can relate to in their journey of gratefulness.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day on Sunday, Karen. Hope it's a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteKaren, it's all about the journey, the destination unknown. YEAH!
ReplyDeleteLove you amigo. I was smiling after the mailman left. Guess what came? hehe
Can't wait to to read it. *wink*
Have a most lovely Mother's Day. You deserve it. And with six boys and a girl, I shall just sit and let the presents and doting cover me. :-)
You're not kidding, it's been an adventure. And 'yes' to challenges; 'yes' to joy!
ReplyDeleteMine takes me (as you know) into many homes via the local newspaper. It's also taking me to the college where our son attends, a happy surprise for sure.
I don't know where else it will take me, but I'm excited!
Waving and smiling,
Rhonda
P.S. - Part of the joy has been making friends like you along the way. Truly.
The writing journey is my destination :) I love it and I hate it, but it has taken me to places I never expected (like having a monthly column in a national magazine in Holland and having a home study group based on my books!) Awesome so far! Difficult? Yes. Rewarding? Yes!
ReplyDeleteLove you Karen, your posts are always inspiring!
Writing has brought me a tremendous amount of joy throughout my life, Karen. In teaching Creative Writing in a classroom setting, it was great helping others find their own joy! Writers see through different eyes than the average person. Colors, patterns, designs, etc. all come in to focus, to be described in an article or column. It's great to observe, talk with people, try new foods in a restaurant, go on day trips, and then write all about it! Writing is such a great gift in life.
ReplyDeleteWhere is my writing taking me now? Well, my blog is a labor of sheer love each day, and continuing to freelance adds to the excitement of life. Thanks for asking the question!
Take care. Susan
Lynn,
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, what a ride, right? I'm glad this adventure has brought me so many good friends, like all of you!
Lydia,
Yes! We may as well enjoy it. I don't know about you, but I get grouchy if I'm too tense on the journey. :P
Shanda,
You're doing a great job on the A-Z adventure! I need to get back over there and see what letter you're on!
Joylene,
Happy Mother's Day to you too! Hope you have a great day!
Robyn,
Well, I would say that you've earned a bit of a break for Mother's Day! Love you too, girl!
Rhonda,
Love reading about your adventures, too! And I must agree with you; a big part of the joy is meeting those like you too!
Marja,
You've done some exciting things with your writing. Can't wait to see what's next! Love you too. :)
Susan W.,
Your blog reflects the passion you have for your interests and writing. Thanks for your thoughts!
Happy Weekend!
Karen
Happy Mom's Day!
ReplyDeleteWriting is my grand escape from the normalcy of real life. Bye-bye bills and work stress and laundry! I feel so sorry for those who do not write--oh, what they miss!
Oooh, good questions! I wish I had funny answers but my writing hasn't led me anywhere in particular physically. Emotionally, that's a whole 'nother story!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen .. Writing is Mind travelling, destination unknown .. certainly with most of my blog posts - that's what happens.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day .. glad you reminded me that it's the American one this weekend .. Happy Times to you and the family - cheers Hilary
I love getting to know my characters! They are so special to me!
ReplyDeleteIt took me to spokane this past spring where I got to speak!
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteLisa,
Happy Mom's Day to you too! :) Yes, they are really missing a lot, aren't they?

Well in your head counts too! The places we can go...:D

Alisa,
It is amazing how involved we get when we write, isn't it? Guess that's part of what makes it great! :)
Terri,
Yes, Kudos to you! I heard it went really well! You are quite the national speaker now! :)
Blessings,
Karen
Happy Mother's Day weekend to you too!
ReplyDeleteI love this quote - "Writing is mind traveling, destination unknown."
You can go anywhere by writing or by reading and never have to leave the house.
Very exciting.
Thanks for following my blog and commenting.

Hi Karen -
ReplyDeleteThis space is too small to contain my adventures. Writing is wonderful, satisfying, thrilling, hard, tearing-my-hair-out frustrating all at the same time.
Blessings,
Susan :)
I'm at the beginning of the journey but have truly enjoyed blogging.
ReplyDeleteSandie,
ReplyDeleteSo good to meet you! Thanks for following. Enjoyed my stop at your blog. :) Hope you have some great writing adventures!
Susan,
I'll be looking for you to expand on your adventures on your blog! lol :)
Sally,
Blogging is part of the adventure, isn't it? Glad we've met through it!
Blessings,
Karen
My adventures tend to come through the learning I gain while writing. It's a journey I hope never to end.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day, Karen!
Writing is always a journey into the unknown, even if I have a plot with a clear X-marks-the-spot ending, there is always something that changes, and changes the story for the better.
ReplyDeletePlus, I'm always learning new things.
Happy Mother's Day!!!

ReplyDeleteKaren:
ReplyDeleteMy writing has taken me to some places that only God could have been the source of.
My short plays have instructed people about Him and His love for them.
My newsletters have passed on information to our supporting churches and individuals about the needs of children of incarceration. The second newsletter gives information to the caregivers about where they can receive help in our community.
My blog is intended to point people to Jesus.
I'm not a prolific writer...yet...but my writing has taken me to compiling anecdotes, thoughts, myriad little moments from my life and the lives of my boys, to finally present in book form to my grandchildren. I started it when they were not even born...now I have a grand-daughter, Alyssa (15 mths)
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!
I had no idea I will end up writing so many books.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen- Everyday I can write is an adventure for me! Publication is just the icing on the proverbial cake:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Moms Day!
Eileen,
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, or should I say "write"? :)
Tyrean,
And you have been so thankful on your journey too! You are an inspiration.
Cecelia,
Your writing has taken you many places. Looking forward to seeing what's next!
Joy,
That is such a wonderful idea; I may borrow it if you don't mind! I bet you are having fun with Alyssa.
Rachna,
What a wonderful surprise for you! I know you're enjoying this journey. :)
Clara,
Oh, this is true! Smart lady, you are! :)
Happy weekend,
Karen
