Man's Best Friend?

"Outside of a dog, a man’s best friend is a book.

Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read."

Groucho Marx

This quote always makes me smile.

I'm sharing tight writing tips at Susan J. Reinhardt's blog.

Are dogs or books your best friend?

Happy reading and writing,

  3. Sorry all - the link is now fixed! Thanks for your patience! :)

    Natalie,
A dog really can be a great companion, can't it? So glad you have a faithful furry friend!

    Alex,
This particular dog belongs to my son. Dashiell (Dash for short) is his name. :)

    Susan,
I love this quote too. :) Have fun dog sitting!

    Happy reading and writing,
    Karen

  4. Hi Karen! I'm allergic to dogs, so even dogs like my son's (who is a sweetie) I don't let get too close.
I'll go with books every time!
Hopping over to your guest post now :)

  5. Well, I'm a dog lover AND a book lover, so you hit me in both places with this post! :)

  6. Ceil,
Books sound like a good choice! :) Isn't it nice to have that option? Thanks for checking it out.

    Lisa,
So glad to hit two points for you! :) Thought you might like this post!

    Holly,
Well now there is an option that we'll have to find another good quote for! :)

    Happy writing,

  7. Since I don't have a dog but four cats, I'll say books. Although I consider Jesus to be my #1 Bestie. He gets me and loves me anyway!

  8. Definitely books. Our neighbors trained their dogs to use our yard as a dumping ground when I was little. I may still be traumatized.

  9. Marja,
Thanks so much! Appreciate your support. :)

    Jen,
Well, you can't read inside a cat either. Just sayin'. :) So thankful, too, for the love of Jesus!

    Crystal,
Although I do not dislike dogs, I'd have to say I am more of a book person too. Maybe book therapy and cheese can help with any lingering trauma? :)

    Happy writing,
    Karen

  10. Yeah! Inside of a dog it's pretty dark to read! I love to read.

  11. I'm a cat person, but I'd like a dog one day. I'll check out the link.

  12. Nas,
It sure is - or at least, we assume so. lol :) Somehow I just knew you loved to read!

    Medeia,
Thanks so much for hopping over. I appreciate it! :) Hope you find the right dog when the time comes.

    Happy weekend,

  13. Both! If I could have a dog, I would. :) But books are much cheaper and easier,

  14. Love the quote! But my answer is books. Cats would be second, not dogs :-)

  15. My cat is my best friend. But, yes, dogs and books are a close second :-)

  16. Terri,
I suspect many people feel the same way! Maybe when you move back to PA in your new home, right? :)

    Kenda,
I do too! I'm thinking we need to come up with some kind of cat and books quote now. :)

    Vanessa,
Here again, we have to come up with a cat quote to fit, right? :) Thanks for weighing in!

    Happy weekend,
    Karen
