"Freedom
has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it
must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its
life-giving roots, it will wither and die."
Dwight D. Eisenhower
As Independence Day approaches here in the United States, I'm wondering...
How does our view of true freedom and independence impact our words?
As writers, what can we do to promote freedom of the heart and soul?
Do you have any special plans for July 4th?
Enjoy your week!
Happy writing,
Karen

Good morning!! I think we will be building on the fourth just like everyday this summer. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote! I don't know the answers to your question but I'm glad I live in the US. :-) I'll be spending time with family and watching fireworks! Have a great fourth!
ReplyDeleteAwesome quote, although I often don't feel we are refreshing that freedom as a nation as often as we should.
ReplyDeleteIf it's still raining on the Fourth, I'll probably hide inside all day.
Terri,
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best with your house. So excited for you! :)
Jessica,
Not sure I know the answer either! Been thinking about it a bunch, you know? Thankful as well to live here. :)
Alex,
I think you are right; been praying about this lately. Hope the rain stops in time for the 4th!
Happy 4th, and happy writing,
Karen
Awesome quote, Karen. Happy 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteNice quote, Karen. I think freedom is like faith, in that both have to be nurtured and respected.
ReplyDeleteI'm hosting a barbecue at my home for the 4th. Hope you have fun plans for the 4th as well!
Enjoy. :-)
Rachna,
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have quotegarden.com to thank. :) Happy 4th to you, even though you don't live in the US! :)
Janette,
As I told Rachna, I cannot take credit for digging it up on my own! Quote Garden is a great site. :) We have plans on the 5th, which is my husband's bday, so we often combine the celebrations. Friday just worked out better for us this year. Enjoy your time at the bbq!
Blessings,
Karen
Love the quote. Hope you enjoy your Fourth of July holiday
ReplyDeleteThe quote is so true. Hope you have a fun week and a fun fourth.

ReplyDeleteHi Karen...
I think our words can have impact on others. What we believe, what we think, what's in our hearts----can all be expressed through our writing.
As writers, to promote freedom of the heart and soul, I think the main thing we can do is just write.
Writing from the heart is the best thing we can do. The message will get across to others.
Whether others agree with us or not is unimportant. We just need to speak from our hearts and leave the rest to God. Susan
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteMe too! Hope you have a great one too! :)
Donna,
I know, it's something to think about. Have a good holiday week! :)
Susan,
Oh yes, I think you are right! Well said - you must be a writer! :) Happy 4th!
Blessings,
Karen
I'm gonna spend the 4th rather low-key this year. My and my honey are gonna stay in and have dinner and maybe watch the fireworks from the porch :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the quote. Hope you have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteNas
Keith,
ReplyDeleteHope the forecast rain clears out in time for fireworks! Happy 4th! :)
Nas,
Thanks! Have a great weekend! :)
Blessings,
Karen
Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alex. We're not refreshing freedom as we should. Each generation has a responsibility to carry it forward.
ReplyDeleteWe went to a BBQ yesterday. :)
Amen!
ReplyDeleteTyrean,
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th weekend to you too! :)
Susan,
Alex has a great point! Hope the BBQ was fun. :)
Joylene,
Glad you feel the same way! :) Hope you had a good weekend!
Blessings,
Karen
I like my fellow Kansan's quote, Karen. :D
ReplyDeleteWe had our annual party here that's so official it has a name: The Kaboom.
Plenty of that, for sure. Hope yours was great, too!
