Today's post?
Well, it was in the works.
It was coming together. Sort of.
I looked over the text. It was so-so.
Then it hit me. Hey, this is my blog.
If I want to table the post until later, I can.
So I made the executive decision to save it for another time.
Instead, I'm sharing a quote that made me smile. Maybe it'll make you smile too.
"A metaphor is like a simile."

I found that little gem at the Quote Garden, where you'll find quotes for nearly every topic and occasion.
In the meantime, I may try writing with colored pencils. Care to join me? You never know, it might be inspiring.
Have a great week,
Karen

Hahaaa, love the quote! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Karen! I love those kind of executive decisions.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a delightful Monday.
Sorry about not writing with colored pencils, though. Felt tipped markers are my fave when I write in longhand. Susan
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI know, it's great, isn't it? :)
Susan,
My Mom used to use that phrase - executive decision, and I thought it fit well. :) Markers are good too, will have to try them!
Happy writing,
Karen
Writing with colored pencils, guest posts, chocolate - sounds like a delightful kind of day and month ahead! Happy writing Karen! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHaha, well, Monday is an excuse for everything, right? I can't wait to see your colors!
ReplyDeleteFour years of blogging - good for you!
ReplyDeleteSome days the deep stuff just won't come to us!
ReplyDeleteTyrean,
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to have some fun too! :) Thanks!
Marja,
Yes, lol, I guess you could look at it that way! :)
Alex,
Thanks! :) It's hard to believe four years has gone by!
Diane,
I know it, and it started out with wonderful intentions, too. Ah well, another time. :)
Blessings,
Karen
I'm not a big fan of colored pencils, but I love colored pens! :)
ReplyDeleteIt always helps when I write with purple ink, so why not colored pencils?
ReplyDeleteFour years! Hmm, that's how long we've known each other. :)
The quote is simple, funny, and I think there is room to ponder it, too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your four years. The pencils are colorful, but they usually don't write dark enough for me.
Love the stuff you share Karen! Thanks for the link to the Quote Garden. Have a terrific week!
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeletePens are good too! Love the gel pens. :)
Susan,
Yes, I guess you are right. We met when I first started blogging. It seems longer though, but in a good way! lol :)
Nancy,
Yes, I agree! And it'll make you smile. :)
Maria,
Thanks a bunch! :) The Quote Garden is a handy resource.
Happy writing,
Karen
Love that quote! It makes me simile. Ahahahaa! I made myself laugh!
ReplyDeleteI read that in college and never forgot that metaphors should make the reader smile. But not roar with laughter apparently. Especially in spy books. Who knew!
ReplyDeleteJen,
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! I agree, it is a good quote. :)
Joylene,
Who knew indeed! I'd never heard this quote but it does help to think about it this way. :)
Happy writing,
Karen
that quote did make me laugh :) Wish I could play around with colored pencils today.

Well, good for you. Clapping here at your refusal to be ruled by a schedule or "should's" or whatever.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's good to break out and break it up!
Your colors remind me of Little Schrock and his love of coloring with Crayolas. That, and my love of him coloring with Crayolas. :D
Waving and smiling,
Rhonda
Good quote and looking forward to helping you celebrate your bogversery (yeah, I spelled that one all wrong!)
ReplyDeleteNutschell,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it made you laugh! :) Hope you get a few minutes to give pencils or markers a try!
Rhonda,
Thank you - I appreciate your support! You are a peach, you know that, right? :)
Terri,
I had to laugh, that is some word to spell, isn't it? I'm not even sure I have it right! :)
Happy writing,
Karen
I agree, Karen--I'm not a slave to my blog and I'm glad you aren't a slave to yours. We can maintain a regular blogging schedule without it becoming onerous, no?
ReplyDeleteI haven't written with colored pencils in years, but thank you for the vibrant idea. ;-)
Be well...
Janette,
ReplyDeleteGood to see you. :) I must admit, I have let the blog dictate more than it should sometimes - in light of getting to other writing. Working on achieving the right balance.
Blessings,
Karen
