Thursday's This and That

Spending time with the little mister, aka my 4 year old grandson. We're headed over to the local farm to climb the giant hay pyramid, so thought I'd share some links. We'll wave to you from the top! :)

Everyone who likes chocolate raise your hand! Check this out - in honor of National Chocolate Week Jennifer Brown Banks is hosting a contest on her blog, Pen and Prosper. Hurry, deadline to enter is October 22, 2012.

Do you write for children? A member of my local writing group shared info on this No Fee Short Children's Story Contest. First prize is $5000, entry deadline is November 30, 2012. Details can be found here.

Would Hemingway Blog? Kristen Lamb shares her answer in this post. She makes an interesting point, how blogging prepares us for other writing. Whether you think Hemingway would blog, or not, it's good food for thought.

Another round of classes begin October 29 at the Coffeehouse for Writers. Workshops suit writers of every level and genre, and are affordable too. Hop on over!

Blog topic inspiration lacking? Top 10 Tips for Developing Blog Article Ideas might help get the creative juices flowing again. You never know. :)

  1. Hi Karen .. well if I hadn't started blogging, I'd have never known I could write, could be creative in my ideas, and generally become a great deal more open to the world at large.

I'll look forward to hopping across to the Hemingway post .. if he was a recluse and far away .. I guess blogging might well suit him ...

Coffeehouse for Writers - I must look at ... but possibly next year - I need to get this end of the world sorted out first ..

Hope you had a fabulous time with the little one - they do amuse and take our breath away at times .. such love and hugs .. happy Granny to you - Hilary

    Alex,
I think I may leave the climbing to the little mister, but I can photo document it. Yes, I know, I don't usually lack for ideas, just time to get them together!

    Blessings,
    Karen

  11. Blogging ideas will receive a visit. I usually hit on an idea before the week is up but the well does run dry on occasion. A quiet weekend ahead, which looks good from where I'm sitting at this moment!

  17. I hope you enjoyed that hay pyramid! Sounds like a lot of fun :)

I never knew there was an idea generator. Many of them, if you google. Even an ap for my phone. Wow... that makes a fun change from scrolling through my photos for blog inspiration.

Have a great weekend, Karen. And thanks for the great links. xx

  18. Hey amigo!! You and Little Mister had to enjoy the hay pyramid. You could have come here to do that! :-) Awesome links. I know blogging helped me to write better. I'm thankful Beth pushed me to do it. Or else I would not have met you. Love these links. I always bookmark them. :) Hugs and loves.

  21. Dottie,
We did! We could actually see my house; we live not far down the road and across the fields from the farm. Fun stuff!

    Robyn,
We had a great and are now having a bit of down time at home. :) Making pizza for dinner with a little extra set of hands - should be fun!

  23. Thanks for the reminder as to Jen's chocolate contest, Karen. I'll have to hop over to her blog to check that out!

I hope you had fun with your four year old grandson. That's a great age--I have a five year old daughter and an almost-four year old daughter, myself. Seeing the seasons and holidays through their eyes makes it all different and new, right?

Enjoy the weekend! I'll be planning my daughter's Strawberry Shortcake-themed upcoming fourth birthday.

    Smooches...
