I don't know about you, but I've never considered writing a play or script. Until now. A recent issue of Writing for DOLLARS! featured an article by Susan Sundwall that covers the topic. The title is Plays, Skits, and Scripts - Are They for You?
Ms. Sundwall shares great tips to get you started, and even adds some market links for good measure. That way you can get an idea of what each publisher prefers, which is quite nice.
This looks like a fun way to do something a little different. I'm thinking about giving it a try. How about you?
Happy Writing!
P.S. Don't forget, today is the last day to enter the Double Book Giveaway. Two winners will be chosen, so check out Monday's post for details.
I've wrote some skits in college and they didn't turn out very well. They were assignments, so there was no way around that. Right now I don't have a pressing desire to do it, but I might be up for it one day!
ReplyDeleteI have considered writing scripts, I even dream that one of my picture books would make a great Nickelodeon cartoon.
ReplyDeleteSo I NEVER say never. :)
Robyn,
ReplyDeleteA cartoon, now that would be fun! I agree, never say never! :) Thanks for dropping in.
Kristen,
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing is that the resources are available if/when we decide to give it a try. I'm open to it someday! Blessings to you!
For me right now play writing or skit writing seems like a whole other ball field and I'm trying to take in as much as I can in my current ball field.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it.

I hear ya, Wendy! Wish you all the best with your writing. Blessing:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! I've found it helpful to write something out of my comfort zone (children's book) just for a change of pace. Have fun with it, Karen!!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria! You'll have to share your children's writing with us sometime. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear how you do with it. When I was younger-- way younger-- I used to write skits but feel it is so hard now! Maybe once I master fiction!
ReplyDeleteHi Yerri, Thanks! I am sure you could do a great job at it:) Great to see you:)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen -
ReplyDeleteI wrote a few skits many years ago, but didn't pursue that type of writing. Thanks for the link. :)
Blessings,
Susan
Hi Susan! I know you are just itching to write some skits:) Or maybe not. lol Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this, Karen. I wrote some skits in jr. high years ago and had a lot of fun with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara! Nice to see you:)
ReplyDeleteI have never even considered writing a play or a script but did LOVE reading a compilation of Arthur Miller's plays. Hmmm. Maybe I'll pull it off the shelf, dust it, and study a master's techniques.
ReplyDeleteNice to visit your place!
Hope you come see me.

Hi Patti,
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by. Going to check out your site now. Blessings!
As a teenager I used to write scripts in shorthand. They are tucked away in my hopechest, unreadable to me now, as I can only remember the symbol for "for". Perhaps I'll pick that up again and try writing them in long hand or typing them in. Thanks for the links.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Maybe there's a treasure or two in your hope chest:) You never know! Have a great weekend:)
