Refreshing to read that it can also be a best part of the process too. The last historical fiction I loved was All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doer. It was 10 years in the making, and can understand why! I'm sure the research process in historical fiction can be a long one and admire those with the patience to persevere through all the details.
